Three Ships uses Upcycled Ingredients to formulate their skincare- upcycled beauty reduces waste by sourcing parts of produce that would often contribute to food waste. Three Ships sees value in discarded raw materials and strive to find methods of upcycling these ingredients for formulation. Using this method- Three Ships give forgotten goods a new life! This company sees the importance and value in the opportunity these ingredients provide and give the ingredient new life while saving it from the landfills.

The skincare industry has come a long way; there are so many innovative ingredients and substances that can be naturally derived, that Three Ships choose to use instead of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrance and phthalates. All of Three Ships products meet the highest quality in avoiding certain additives. The reasons to not include these ingredients range from not being suitable for those with sensitive skin to not safe for infants. While Three Ships products aren’t made for babies- new moms should feel comfortable and safe buying these products to use on themselves.

All of Three Ships products are free from synthetic fragrances however, some products have been formulated using very limited amounts of essential oils in their products! Because all of the ingredients are 100% natural, it can often smell unpleasant. By using less than 0.8% concentrations of essential oils, Three Ships is able to create an enjoyable skincare experience without any effects on your skin.

Three ships does not and will never test on animals! Three Ships is certified cruelty-free by the Leaping Bunny Program. 

Sustainibility:

At Three Ships- sustainability is equally as important as the quality of the formulation. They mindfully consider packaging design so it’s as easy to recycle and compost as possible. The outer packaging is made with cardboard, and the inner components include glass bottles which are easy to recycle or upcycle. They are committed to minimizing plastic usage and shifting to 100% of plastic packaging designed to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025, in line with the Canada Plastics Pact commitments.

Three Ships is a proud member of Pact, a nonprofit membership organization that collects hard-to-recycle beauty products such as pumps and serum droppers.

Pact sorts through the hard-to-recycle packages by material type with the aim to find the highest and best use for all materials. Ideally, Pact will sell some of the material back to beauty packaging manufacturers to fulfill the circular economy. Three Ships also opted to minimize waste by using glass bottles, a material that can be recycled endlessly, for the majority of the products they've created.
