Peoples Action for Creative Education PEACE is a grass root voluntary organization in the filed of rural development, established in 1986 and has been working in Nalgonda and Medak districts of Andhra Pradesh for improving the living conditions of poor and marginal farmers, women, children and disabled persons.
Objectives:
"The mission of PEACE is to work with women, children, poor & marginal farmers, and to facilitate the process of change in their favor towards a more equitable and just society".
Successes, Challenges and Lessons:
PEACE successfully organized more than 600 SHG and all the SHG are linked to financial institutions for credit and enjoying a credit of more than 6 crores. Formed 7 mutually aided cooperative (thrift and credit) societies of women. Now all of them are self sustained and have a good reputation in the industry with high rating. NPM concept up scaled by government of Andhra Pradesh in almost all the districts Farmers realized of the bad effects of chemical agriculture and turning towards sustainable agriculture. PEACE is the resource agency for agriculture and livestock in Nalgonda district. |
